DVD players are verified through DVD Forum-issued test discs. These discs were authored to verify player conformance in processing various compression and authoring conditions. The testing process follows DVD Forum's established testing procedures, which are viewable at http://www.dvdfllc.co.jp

DVD discs are tested for both mechanical and electrical properties.

Mechanical properties include (but are not limited to):

• Tilt
• Birefringence
• Substrate thickness
• Disc thickness
• Space layer thickness

Electrical properties include (but are not limited to):

• Jitter
  
• Parity Error
  
• Reflectivity
  
• Asymmetry
  
• Modulation
  
• Resolution
  
• TCS
  
• Radial Runout
  
• Radial Error
